Wednesday 4/9

Today, you took Notes #60 which covered interior angles, exterior angles, and classifying angles. You also covered the Angle Addition Postulate.  You then began working on page 15 from your blue geometry workbook.

Homework #104: Finish page 15 from your workbook
Solutions: Workbook page 15 key

Tuesday 4/8

Today we learned about the building blocks of geometry with Notes #59.

You'll need a protractor for tonight's homework. If you don't have one at home, download this paper protractor, and cut it out.

Homework #103: Workbook pg 9
Solutions: Assignment #103 answer key

Monday 4/7

Today, you thought about and discovered congruence with Notes #58.

Today's lesson was a bit different than usual, as it primarily consisted of questions designed to guide you towards some important conclusions. Some questions have specific answers, some were more open-ended. We didn't finish the last couple of tasks in class today, so be sure to open the notes from the website and complete the last few parts.

On your homework, be sure to describe the sequences of transformations necessary to prove congruence.

Homework #102: Congruence worksheet
Solutions: Congruence worksheet answer key

Friday 4/4

Congratulations on making it through another week of translations, reflections, and rotations. If you'd like to get a jump on next week, try looking up the word "similar" and compare it to what we've already done.  Hint: Think about the transformations that would give us similar figures.

Here is this weekend's extra credit:

Thursday 4/3

We spent today reviewing and practicing for tomorrow's test. If you can handle all of the questions on the Preview worksheet, you know you're prepared for tomorrow. Set yourself up for success.

Homework #101: Finish the Test 28 Preview worksheet
Solutions: Preview answer key

If you're stuck on any of the homework or need help studying, you could always ask The Community.

You'll be able to use the following assignments for tomorrow's notes and homework quiz; please make sure to have them with you and fully ready to go:

Wednesday 4/2

In class today we learned how to reflect objects about the lines y = x and y = -x with Notes #57.

Be sure to compare your notes from class with the ones posted here to ensure you'll be ready for Friday's quiz. There was a lot to copy - be thorough!

Homework #100: Perform the following transformation combinations:
  1. Start with the point A at (-3, -1). Reflect that point across the line y = x. Now rotate that point 90º clockwise about the origin. Now translate that point +6 horizontally and -2 vertically. Give the coordinates of the newest point.
  2. Figure ABCD has points at A (-2, 3), B (-4, 0), C (-3, -5), and D(0, 1). Rotate ABCD 180º clockwise about the origin. Now translate that image -3 horizontally and -5 vertically. Finally, reflect that image about the line y = -x. Give the coordinates of the new vertices.

Tuesday 4/1

Today we completed a card matching activity in pairs to practice our transformation skills. We glued our final transformation maps to create a poster of our team's solution. We'll be taking a look at some of the solutions together tomorrow.

Homework #99: Plot ΔABC with points A (3, -2), B (1, 4), and C (-1, 0).
  1. Translate ΔABC 3 units right and 2 units down. Give the new coordinates of A’, B’, and C’.
  2. Reflect ΔABC across the x-axis. Give the new coordinates of A’, B’, and C’.
  3. Reflect  ΔABC across the x = -2. Give the new coordinates of A’, B’, and C’.
  4. Rotate ΔABC 90º clockwise about the point (-2, 4). Give the new coordinates of A’, B’, and C’.
