Wednesday 1/15

We tackled graphing horizontal and vertical lines today with Notes #42.

Remember that x = 3 tells you that the line will intersect with the x-axis at positive 3, just as y = -4 will intersect with the y-axis at negative 4. That's the whole key to determining both how to identify what kind of line it will be, and in graphing them correctly.

Homework #72: TB pg 249 (#19-26 all; identify and graph each) & TB pg 574 (#1-11 odd)

Be sure to check your answers in the back of the book when finished!

Tuesday 1/14

Today we learned how to find the slope of a line with Notes #41. We learned three different methods, all of which you should be proficient with by now.

Finding the slope of a line is an essential skill that you'll need for the remainder of the semester. Practice until you get it down perfectly.

Homework #71: TB pg 235 (#7-29 odd, #37, #39)
Be sure to check your answers in the back of the book when finished!

Monday 1/13

Welcome back! I hope that you enjoyed your vacation and have returned ready to work! I was out today, but I trust the lesson went well. If anything did not make sense, please bring me your questions tomorrow.

Today, on Notes #40, we learned how to plot points in the coordinate plane.  It is important that you have the fundamentals of graphing down because you will be expected to know and do it throughout your math career.

Monday 12/16

Well, here we are. Finals week. The last chance to impact your grade (hopefully in a good way!) before we break for three weeks and start anew next semester.

We spent our class period today answering any last-minute questions you had and wrapping up our First Semester Final Review, which is due the day you take your final.

I also passed out our First Semester Final Review today, to give you a chance to get a head start over the weekend. We'll use Monday to answer any questions you have about it, and allow you to finish it up in class. It will be due the day you take your Final Exam. It is a comprehensive review of every standard we've learned (and mastered) this year, and looks very similar to your Final Exam.
